Cross Country Has Successful Home Meet

Our XC teams competed at home tonight against Honesdale, Wallenpaupack, Delaware Valley, Carbondale Area, and Honesdale. On the JH side, Kris Maloney finished fifth overall to lead the boys. Madison Kammer finished third overall to lead the girls to a victory over Delaware Valley. The JH girls are now 6-4 on the season.
Cross Country Has Great Showing at PIAA Hershey Foundation Meet

Our Varsity XC teams had great showings Saturday at the PIAA Hershey Foundation Meet. On the Girls' side, Annie Skirpan led the charge with a 40th place finish out of 198 runners and a season best time of 22:02. Freshman Anya Rusnak took 56th place with a PR of 22:32. Paige Barillo took 85th with a season best time of 23:33. Jill Dudley ran a PR of 27:20 to round out our Girl finishers.
On the Boys' side, Jake Pasake earned his third medal from this meet with a 19th place finish out of 213 runners to earn a season best time of 17:39. Dom Corma had a season best time of 23:28. Randy Repsher ran a 23:40, while Ryan Cavage had a PR of 23:43.

Wildcat Cross Country Has Strong Showing

Our cross country teams had great showings today against Dunmore, Riverside, and Old Forge in a meet that took place at Honesdale. On the JH Boys side, Donovan Burdick, Kris Maloney, and Joey Skirpan teamed up to finish third, fourth, and fifth place respectively. On the JH Girls side, Madison Kammer, Audrey Lawlor, Ella Dougher, and Maleigh Eldred finished second, third, fifth, and tenth place respectively to lead the Girls to three victories and a 5-0 start in the Lackawann...a League Regular Season.
On the Varsity Boys side, senior Jake Pasake took first overall, beating second place by over a minute. Junior Annie Skirpan, Freshmen Anya Rusnak and Lilly Black, and Junior Paige Barillo finished first, fourth, sixth, and seventh place respectively to pace their team to three wins and a 3-2 start on the season.
Next up for our XC teams is the challenging cluster of Abington Heights, Valley View, and North Pocono, which will take place at Honesdale next week.
Cross Country Season Opens

Our XC teams began their Lackawanna League regular season meet schedule at Honesdale against Holy Cross and Scranton Prep. The junior high boys were led by eighth graders Joey Skirpan, Donovan Burdick, and Kris Maloney, who finished first, second, and third in the race (right next to each other). The junior high girls won both of their meets against Holy Cross and Scranton Prep to start the season 2-0. They were led by Madison Kammer, Audrey Lawlor, and Ella Dougher, who plac...ed second, third, and fourth overall. Lloida Martinez and Paige Bell rounded out the top five for the winning team.
The Varsity Boys were led by Jake Pasake, who finished second overall. The Varsity Girls fell to 0-2 against a state-ranked Scranton Prep team and a very talented Holy Cross team that won the Class A District Championship last season. Junior Annie Skirpan led the way with freshman Lilly Black and Anya Rusnak close behind.
The teams will be back at it Tuesday (at Honesdale again) where they will face Dunmore, Riverside, and Old Forge

Varsity Cross Country to Begin the 2017 Season September 6th

The 2017 edition of Western Wayne Varsity Cross Country will begin its season at Honesdale High School on Wednesday September 6th. Our runners will face multiple area high school opponents beginning at 5:00 pm.
